Welsh National Tests Profion Darllen a Rhifedd Cenedlaethol
Children in Years 2 to 9 now take national tests in reading and numeracy each summer. It is really important that your child is in school to take the tests.
Transition to online personalised assessments for reading and numeracy
Online personalised assessments will be phased in over a three-year period, starting with the Numeracy (Procedural) Personalised Assessment this school year.
This will be followed by Reading Personalised Assessments in academic year 2019/20 and Numeracy (Reasoning) Personalised Assessments in academic year 2020/21.
Over time the online personalised assessments will replace the current paper-based national tests.
The reading tests are made up of short questions based on two or more texts. Some of the questions check how well the text has been understood, others aim to find out if children are able to make judgements about what they are reading.
Numeracy:
There are two kinds of numeracy tests:-
The procedural test measures skills in number, measuring and data skills.
The reasoning test measures how well children can use what they know to solve everyday problems.
Welsh National Tests 2019
The tests will take place between 7th – 14th May. A timetable will be made available so you are aware of the days that your child will be sitting the different tests.
